Mr. V (AKA Victor Font) is a brand new artist and MC heralding from New York's infamous lower east side. He is soon to launch his debut album Welcome Home through Defected Records, a set which brings together all the musical cultures you would expect find in cosmopolitan modern day Manhattan ? House, Hip Hop, Latin, R&B and Rap. Experiencing V's original productions, remixes and DJ sets is like taking a trip back in time to electronic music's golden age. He draws on his many influences and inspirations to create songs that are at the same time thought provoking and infectious, and encompass much heart and soul.
With the interest of both urban and electronic scenes currently converging around records that fuse House beats with street flavours, it seems a perfect time for the 'Welcome Home' album to drop ? the new scene seems to be growing weekly and V has a chance to become one of its early figureheads with tracks such as 'Put Your Drink Down' with its conga rhythms and 'Jus Dance'. Alongside these cuts, the collection showcases a talent for rich and soulful R&B which employs laidback grooves with social lyrics to great effect. Attention is, therefore, guaranteed from both the dance and urban camps in terms of media coverage and promotion.
Currently, Mr. V is one of the fastest rising names on the international club circuit with his live performances and DJ sets, and he provides key support for Louie Vega at high profile shows. Performances at Pacha in Ibiza, Global Gathering in the UK and Defected's own For The Love Of House event in London have introduced the artist to a new audience in fine style and more dates are planned to the end of 2006 and beyond.
